Robert Mitchum, "Night of the Hunter"
"Now watch, and I'll show you the story of life. Those fingers, dear hearts, is always a-warring and a-tugging, one agin t'other"
On the commemoration of his death I did a portrait of the Adam West, the Batman who moved me most. As a kid, along with Keith Partridge Batman was my jam. He was forever foiling and array bad guys & gals, making them ridiculous while appearing pretty absurd himself.
The TV series in the 60’s seemed to hold up a fun-house mirror to the world and offer offer a surrealist reflection of the wackiness of the times, pushing television to be something new. Adam West embodied the spirit of the Batman in a way no one else has.
I find myself coming back to draw him so I can immerse myself in his work and meditate on his life every few years. Truly one of my favorite artists of last century. Tremendous caricaturist, ethnographist and style setter.
Stand out from the era of 45
Will Ferrel, "Ron Burgundy"
'He had a voice that could make a wolverine purr and suits so fine they made Sinatra look like a hobo. In other words, Ron Burgundy was the balls.'
I’ve been working on this while we’ve been mainlining the second season of #TheHandmaidsTale on #Hulu over the last few days. What seemed so far fetched way back at the beginning of season one, seems like it’s just around the corner the way things are going. A story for our times.
"Here Comes Hillary"
Well... clearly i guessed wrong about America on this one. This had a shelf life of about ten minutes. It's my "Dewey Defeats Truman' moment! Oh well, she still won in my books.
Based on the interesting face of Amanda Khamkaew. I enjoy drawing portraits of all kinds of faces.
